Frequently Asked Questions

We supply the answers

Why should I get a home inspection?

The simple answer is to protect your investment. Buying a house is a big financial decision, so you want to go into the process fully informed about what you’re buying. That’s where we help the most. We give you all the details you need about the condition your new house is in.

Are home inspections required in the state of Georgia?

Not at all, but neither is testing driving a car, but most of us still want to do that before making a final decision. It’s simply part of the process of knowing what you’re investing in.

Can I do my own home inspection?

Sure, and we suggest you do your own, but unless you’re a builder and specific training to know what to look for, you’ll likely miss something, and that “something” could cost you thousands of dollars down the road.

What are the best credentials for a home inspector to have?

There is no one specific “gold standard” home inspection credential, but if I had to choose, I’d say the INTERNACHI is one of the best. This stands for International Association of Certified Home Inspectors, and it’s considered by many as the leading association of home inspectors.

That being said, it’s important to hire a home inspector with some credentials, but more importantly, you want one with experience. Hiring a former home builder is a good call.

Can a house “fail” a home inspection?

Not in the traditional sense. We don’t use pass/fail grades in our final report. Instead, we simply give you an easy to read report outlining specific issues of the house. We pay particular issues to areas and items you’ll want to pay attention to and could cost you money down the road.

You can use the information we give you to negotiate a better deal or in the worst-case scenario, you may decide not to buy the house at all. Of course, it’s our hope that we’ll find no significant issues with the houses we inspect.
